ABOUT ME

Hey. I’m Jamauri—Jam, if we’re friends (and chances are, we will be).

I grew up in Houston, so for the most part my teenage rebellion wasn’t sneaking out of windows but sneaking into art museums. That’s where my foray into theatre, arts and film curating began—as a high school student at the Contemporary Arts Museum. Fast forward: I’m a recent NYU Tisch grad calling a very loud island named Manhattan home.

I’ve been acting since I was pint-sized—back when my “roles” mostly involved raiding the cookie jar—and I’ve been chasing the craft ever since. These days, I’m wrapping up a two-year conservatory at the Esper Studio with my cohort, still learning, unlearning, and finding new ways to fall in love with the work.

If I’m not in rehearsal, I’m probably treating museums like playgrounds, chasing conversations that stretch until sunrise, or catching a movie solo— and its hands down one of my favorite pastimes.
